MIDI-

    * Instrument Tracks - The new feature combines MIDI and audio in a single channel strip. This will make it easier to route virtual instruments and hardware modules.

    * Real-time MIDI processing allows the user to control how MIDI is quantized, controls duration and velocity of individual notes, and allows for transposition and timing in real time.

    * Enhanced groove quantization - This will allow for more control over the groove template that is applied to your MIDI tracks (allowing for multiple tracks at once too). Randomization can be added to your rhythms to help it sound more realistic than synthesized. Grooves can also be applied in real time to incoming MIDI signals.

    * Sample-based MIDI tracks - If you change the tempo of your session, your MIDI events will stay locked to its position relative to the smallest sample.

    * Zoom Toggle - This gives the user quick toggle access between two different user-defined settings in the Edit window.

    * Mirrored MIDI editing mode - If you change something on a MIDI file, all existing copies of that region will also be affected.

    * Select/Split Notes has been assigned allowing users to take a MIDI performance and split it up into multiple tracks by MIDI note, velocity, duration or position. For example, take a drum rhythm that was originally on one track, and split it by individual notes (HH, Kick, Toms, etc.)

    * If you have duplicate notes somewhere, Remove Duplicate Notes command will help clean them up!

    * The Change Duration window offers newer features that include legato/overlap correction and allows you to also transform sustain pedal commands into actual note durations.

    * Transpose any note in the MIDI region, to anywhere!
EDITING-

    * Region Groups - You can now group any combination of audio and MIDI regions you want over any number of tracks you want.

    * Region Looping-- An easy, new way to repeat one or more audio/MIDI regions and Region Groups.
    * REX and ACID audio files can now be imported into Pro Tools 7.

    * Separate on Grid and Separate at Transient commands now offer editing of multi-track audio regions simultaneously based on what grid value you are set at or what transients are in your audio file.

    * Quantize your audio regions to a grid or groove template. Sort of a simplified Beat Detective, but for audio regions.

    * 'Reverse' Strip Silence extracts louder portions of audio tracks.

MIXING-

    * Improved processing efficiency allowing more RTAS plug-ins and instrument plug-ins per track simultaenously.

    * Pro Tools 7 adds support for up to 10 aux sends per track as well as the ability to utilize up to 32 busses.

    * RTAS plug-ins are now supported on aux tracks and master fader tracks for HD systems which allows for greater flexibility for moving sessions from LE to HD.

    * Aux Sends can now be moved or copied simply by dragging and dropping the send.

    * Automate All command allows the user to turn on automation for all plugin parameters at one time.

    * Comressor/Limiter Dyn III is now included with the new release of Pro Tools alowing for more control. EQIII also includes a new filter band-pass solo mode to help isolate and remove nasty noise in an audio track.

    * Cut, Copy, Clear Special command allows for precise editing of automation.
